Karpatri Ji Maharaj : Founder Sanmarg

Swami Karpatri ji lived an ascetic life and started publication of the Sanmarg Newspaper from 14th August 1946, just before the independence, to free the country from the period of social transition and for the protection of Dharma(righteousness). Swami Nandnandnanand was the first editor of Sanmarg who continued to perform the editorial work of Sanmarg under the able guidance of Swami Karpatri ji.

Dr. Anand Bahadur Singh became the editor of the Sanmarg after the demise of Swami Nandnandnanand ji. The Sanmarg is one of the prestigious evening Newspapers published from Varanasi. Sanmarg is an important Newspaper of the eastern region. This newspaper has witnessed the war of independence. This newspaper has awakened the revolutionaries, not only gave them patronage but also helped them many times. In view of absence of leadership to protest to stop cow slaughter he established himself as a leader and led the movement of saint community held at Delhi against the Government. Many saints died in the blatant firing to suppress this movement. Hurt by the repressive policy of the Government he established a political party known as “Ramrajya Parishad”. This party fielded its own candidates in the election and party’s many MPs and MLAs joined parliament and assembly. Despite, the Sanmarg has continued to carry forward its responsibility successfully.
